About the Role
The Performance Engineer will be involved in various analysis tasks of turbomachinery, rocket engine components, and product/process improvements. Actively participates in the engineering discipline's technical development and mentors and oversees technical content of junior engineers.
Key Responsibilities
- Conceptual design and optimization of turbomachinery performance cycles using NPSS and GatesCycle modeling codes
- Closely coordinate with Integrated Product Teams (IPT) on design limits of components related to turbomachinery performance
- Conduct feasibility studies and testing on new and modified turbomachinery designs
- Document changes through a formal engineering change notification process
- Use professional concepts and company objectives to resolve complex issues in creative and effective ways
- Work on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors
- Exercise judgment in selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results
- Network with key contacts outside own area of expertise
- Determine methods and procedures on new assignments and may coordinate activities of other personnel (Team Lead)
Requirements
- Wide-ranging experience in turbomachinery and rocket engine design and development
- Strong understanding of aerodynamics, heat transfer, and secondary flow analysis
- Experience with NPSS and GatesCycle modeling codes
- Ability to work in a team environment and mentor junior engineers
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
