Schedule and Job Summary

Part-time, 20 hours per week, day shift, rotating weekends and holidays

As a Nursing Assistant at Advocate Health, you will provide basic, quality patient-focused care in a clinical setting under daily direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN). You will work in accordance with the standards of practice within guidelines of corresponding state regulations.

Responsibilities
  • Perform clerical and system coordination for the nursing units and delegated tasks in patient care settings that support an environment of patient care and assure patients and family are treated in a holistic manner with dignity and respect.
  • Monitor and update orders and schedules diagnostic and therapeutic services.
  • Ensure accuracy and frequent updates of unit census, patient information, and level of care.
  • Coordinate all nursing unit communications and activities.
  • Act as a receptionist, greeting and/or directing patients, visitors, physicians, and other healthcare providers.
Requirements
  • High School Graduate or Certificate of General Educational Development (GED) or High School Equivalency Diploma (HSED).
  • CNA - Nurse Aide in good standing as indicated with the State Registry in which the team member practices.
  • CPR - Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) must be obtained within 45 days.
  • No experience required.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communications.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to set priorities.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to adapt to interruptions and changing priorities/workloads.
  • High level of attention to detail essential.
  • Must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, twist, and reach above shoulders during the work shift.
  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance.
  • Will be required to use foot pedals on carts or machines.
  • Must have functional vision and hearing.
  • Will be exposed to mechanical, electrical, chemical, and radiation hazards as well as blood and body fluids on a continuous basis; therefore, protective clothing must be worn as necessary.
