Job Overview

Kiewit Corporation is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Field Engineer Intern. This is an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience in construction management and develop skills in field engineering, operation planning, cost control, and project scheduling.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in field engineering tasks, including operation planning, cost control, and project scheduling
  • Perform engineering tasks requiring standard techniques and handle minor problems of a technical nature arising during construction
  • Maintain records regarding job progress, costs, material usage, and other relevant data
  • Plan and schedule job and/or job segments, ensuring timely completion and adherence to budget
  • Investigate problems and/or reported incidents, identifying and recommending solutions/alternatives as appropriate
  • Review plans and specifications to determine material requirements, pricing, and other relevant details
  • Collaborate with suppliers to facilitate the handling and expediting delivery of materials
Requirements
  • Ability to travel or relocate as needed
  • Ability to work full-time during the summer (approximately May-August)
  • Currently pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in civil engineering, construction management, or a related field
  • Ability to freely access all points of a construction site in a wide-ranging climate and environment
  • Highly motivated, with a demonstrated passion for excellence and taking initiative
  • Strong work ethic, willing to do what it takes to get the job done right the first time
  • Demonstrated commitment to ethics and integrity
  • Passion for safety, with the ability to help ensure that nobody gets hurt
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Team player with the ability to work independently to meet deadlines, goals, and objectives
