American Medical Staffing (AMS) is committed to providing exceptional care to our patients and their families. We are currently seeking a dedicated RN Psychiatric Travel Nurse to join our team in Staunton, VA.

State Psychiatric / Correctional RN Job Details:
  • Pay Rate: $2,162 - $2,362 per week per hour
  • Schedule: 3p-11:30p & 11a-11:30p, Every other weekend, Holidays as needed
  • Available Shift: 2 12's and 2 8's (Shift Times: 3p-11:30p & 11a-11:30p), 4 shifts per week
  • Located In: Staunton, VA
  • Requirements: Qualified applicants MUST have at least 1 year of experience, preferably in a Psychiatric, Corrections or Accute setting, have a valid RN license and be willing to obtain Virginia licensure.

As a RN Psychiatric Travel Nurse, you will work with a variety of patients, each facing different mental health conditions and behavioral challenges. This diversity guarantees a dynamic and ever-changing work environment, where no two days are alike. Success in this profession requires adaptability and strong emotional intelligence.

Responsibilities:

  • Assess patient health status, develop care plans, and implement nursing interventions as needed
  • Administer medications and treatments according to physician orders and established protocols
  • Monitor patient vital signs, symptoms, and responses to treatment, adjusting care plans as necessary
  • Consult with psychiatrists and other health professionals to design treatment plans
  • Practice crisis intervention and stabilization
  • Teach patients and their families about their condition and how to manage it
  • Assist in maintaining a safe and secure environment for patients and staff
  • Document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately and timely
