Job Overview

The Osborne Association is dedicated to serving individuals, families, and communities impacted by the criminal justice system. Our mission is to provide pathways for healing, restoration, and growth, while advocating for systemic change that promotes safety, justice, and equity.

We are excited to announce the launch of our inaugural transitional housing and reentry initiative, The Fulton Community Reentry Center. This facility will offer 140 beds of transitional housing for men exiting correctional facilities, ensuring they have a safe place to stay as they reintegrate into society. In addition to housing, we will provide essential onsite reentry services, including case management, benefits enrollment, employment assistance, health services, and support for substance use disorders. The center will operate 24/7, including evenings and weekends, and some roles may require non-traditional hours.

Position Summary: We are looking for 26 full-time Customer Care Workers/Security personnel. This role is crucial for maintaining the safety and security of clients, staff, visitors, and the facility itself. You will report directly to the Security Manager and the Shift Supervisor in their absence.

Compensation: $24.19 per hour

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage access at the main entrance by screening all clients and visitors.
  • De-escalate crisis situations and document interventions.
  • Respond to incidents and complete necessary reports.
  • Perform administrative and receptionist duties at the operations desk.
  • Monitor video surveillance and fire detection systems.
  • Ensure the safety and security of all individuals and property.
  • Conduct routine checks of residents and the facility to identify potential hazards.
  • Assist with fire drills and ensure compliance with safety procedures.
  • Engage with emergency services as needed.
  • Promote a positive atmosphere within the facility.
  • Conduct searches of residents, staff, and common areas as required.
  • Participate in Safe Crisis Management training.
  • Work flexible shifts, including weekends and overtime when necessary.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent; or two years of relevant experience.
  • Valid NYS Security Guard License and current 8-hour annual Certificate.
  • F02 FDNY Fire Guard License required.
  • At least two years of experience in a residential facility, particularly with individuals facing mental health and substance abuse challenges.
Essential Skills:
  • Ability to ascend 120 standard stairs within 2 minutes.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Knowledge of community resources.
  • Ability to make sound decisions and resolve conflicts effectively.
  • Calm demeanor in crisis situations, with the ability to multitask under pressure.
  • Collaborative approach to working with diverse groups.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Basic computer skills for incident report documentation.
