Project Canary, a leading climate technology company, is seeking a highly skilled Senior Scientist to join our team. As a key member of our research and development department, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and testing cutting-edge laser-based gas analyzers.
Key Responsibilities- Design and Development: Develop ultra-compact, long-path tunable mid-IR diode laser spectrometers for trace gas detection and quantification.
- Product Characterization: Characterize and test new products to ensure they meet specifications.
- Application Exploration: Explore new applications for our existing analyzers.
- Product Improvement: Continuously improve existing products.
- Testing Automation: Automate and optimize testing processes.
- Collaboration: Work closely with optical and test teams to support production.
- Customer Support: Assist our customer support team with advanced technical queries.
- Research and Development: Conduct experiments, analyze data, and write reports.
- Staying Current: Stay up to date with scientific literature.
- Education: Advanced degree in Physics, Chemistry, or related field.
- Experience: 5+ years of experience in optical spectroscopy and gas sensing.
- Skills: Strong knowledge and understanding of quantitative laser spectroscopy and spectral analysis.
- Programming: Advance knowledge of programming languages such as LabView, Python, and C++.
- Spectral Simulation: Experience with spectral simulation using HITRAN database.
- Optical Design: Expertise in optical design is a plus.
- Assembly and Testing: Experience in assembling and testing of optical and mechanical subsystems.
- Data Analysis: Ability to perform rigorous data analysis using Origin and troubleshooting capabilities.
- Handling Sensitive Components: Ability to handle, inspect, and clean sensitive optical components.
- Electronic Components: Ability to handle sensitive electronic components.
- Work Environment: Proactive, organized, self-motivated, requiring minimal supervision after initial training.
- Work Safety: Ability to work safely with compressed gas tanks and related equipment.
- Personal Qualities: Strong motivation and curiosity.
