Hayward, United States Eikon Therapeutics Full time

Eikon Therapeutics is a new biopharmaceutical company employing revolutionary technology at the intersection of chemistry, engineering, computation, and biology to discover novel treatments for life-threatening diseases. Eikon's discovery platform is built on groundbreaking innovations from its founders (Nobel Prize, 2014), culminating in the creation of microscopes which enable real time, molecular-resolution measurements of protein movement in living cells, thereby unlocking otherwise intractable classes of proteins as drug targets.

Position

As a Software Engineer 2, Quantitative Imaging, you will collaborate with biologists, medicinal chemists, microscopists, and optical and automation engineers to design and implement computational solutions that facilitate the exploration and quantification of Eikon's high-content datasets.

About You

You are an adventurous, passionate, and creative software engineer eager to apply your talents in support of interdisciplinary scientific exploration, inaugurate a radical drug-discovery paradigm, and contribute to the creation of novel medicines. You will bring enthusiasm, high energy, intellectual curiosity, and scientific rigor to this challenge. You are excited about being a foundational member of a small but growing team.

What You Will Do

  • Collaborate with scientists, hardware engineers, and other stakeholders to conduct in-depth analyses of proprietary imaging-based and biophysical datasets in support of advancing scientific and technical initiatives.
  • Contribute to the development of novel algorithmic solutions for complex biophysical problems, leveraging image analysis, physics-based simulations, and related methodologies.
  • Guide software solutions through the technical life cycle, from proof-of-concept to production, while adhering to engineering best practices as these solutions mature.
  • Work closely with scientists and engineers to understand tactical needs and develop software solutions that ensure the continuity of experiments.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, establishing milestones and deadlines in alignment with broader company objectives.
Qualifications
  • Typically requires a Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 2 years of related experience; or an advanced degree without experience; or equivalent work experience.
  • Prior experience working with and analyzing scientific datasets is essential.
  • Expertise in scientific Python programming (numpy, pandas) is required; additional experience with a strongly typed language (particularly C++) is desirable.
  • Knowledge of biology at the introductory college level is required; exposure to biological/biophysical imaging, imaging hardware, and/or image analysis is strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency in software development best practices (version control, testing, etc.) is required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Team-oriented, flexible, and able to adapt to rapidly evolving goals and challenges.
  • Willingness to relocate to the Bay Area (hybrid schedule acceptable).
  • Enthusiasm for gaining drug discovery experience is essential.
At Eikon, employee compensation also includes bonus and equity compensation, in addition to several generous benefit programs, including:
  • 401k plan with company matching
  • Medical (premiums covered by Eikon at 95%), dental and vision insurance (premiums covered by Eikon at 100%)
  • Mental health and wellness benefits
  • Weeklong summer and winter holiday shutdowns
  • Generous paid time off and holiday policies
  • Life/AD&D Insurance (premiums covered by Eikon at 100%) and optional supplemental employee-paid life/AD&D policies
  • Enhanced parental leave benefit
  • Daily subsidized lunch program when on-site

The expected salary range for this role is $128,00 to $139,650 depending on skills, competency, and the market demand for your expertise.
