Position Summary

American Hardwood Industries stands as a premier manufacturer of hardwood lumber and various forest products. We are currently in search of a dedicated dry kiln operator for our facility. The role of a dry kiln operator is vital in maintaining the operational efficiency and product quality of our manufacturing processes. This position offers a remarkable opportunity within a leading lumber organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set up kiln loads to maximize capacity while following FIFO principles.
  • Establish drying cycles and schedules, taking into account factors such as wood species, thickness, quantity, initial moisture levels, and moisture reduction rates.
  • Monitor gauges and periodically weigh lumber samples throughout the drying process, adjusting temperature and humidity settings to control moisture loss and prevent damage.
  • Conduct or arrange routine maintenance and maintain detailed records of kiln operations.

Qualifications:

  • Strong mathematical and measurement skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational abilities.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Previous experience in dry kiln operations is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • A degree in wood science, forestry, or a related discipline is preferred but not essential.
