We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our team at Cornerstone Animal Hospital. As a key member of our veterinary care team, you will provide exceptional patient care and support to our veterinarians and technicians.
Key Responsibilities- Assist veterinarians with patient care and treatment, including monitoring hospitalized pets and preparing patients for surgery.
- Perform routine in-house laboratory work, including taking and developing radiographs, and obtaining blood and stool samples.
- Administer and monitor medications, anesthesia, vaccines, and treatments as directed by the veterinarian.
- Provide basic animal handling and restrain animals during exams, ensuring the safety and well-being of both patients and staff.
- Communicate effectively with clients, veterinarians, and practice team members to ensure seamless patient care and client satisfaction.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including exam rooms, treatment areas, and laboratory spaces.
- Previous veterinary experience preferred, but not required.
- Ability to work on weekends as required.
- Ability to lift patients and carry equipment up to 25 pounds, with assistance for heavier loads.
- Basic math skills and ability to calculate medication dosages.
- Basic computer skills and familiarity with MS Office applications.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on patient safety and client satisfaction.
