Infection Prevention Coordinator Job Summary

The Infection Prevention Coordinator will play a crucial role in maintaining a safe and healthy environment for patients, staff, and visitors at NorthBay Healthcare. This position will be responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating the Infection Prevention Program, as well as collaborating with leadership to plan, implement, and evaluate the program.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create a positive and collegial environment among department members and stakeholders.
  • Develop prospective and retrospective surveillance strategies for hospital-acquired and community-acquired infections and perform surveillance.
  • Develop forms and record-keeping systems for surveillance activities; prepare appropriate statistical reports from collected data to identify and analyze trends of infections.
  • Investigate potential infection hazards and deviations from hospital infection rates above the baseline; recommend and coordinate the implementation of appropriate changes.
  • Serve as the resource for infection prevention matters in partnership and collaboration with hospital epidemiologists/medical directors.
  • Provide consultation to all hospital departments and activities for the safe delivery of health care services.
  • Monitor regulatory and accreditation agency standards as well as national professional organizations and propose necessary program changes.
  • Develop, maintain, and coordinate the implementation of infection prevention policies and regulations.
  • Participate in the establishment of performance improvement criteria; develop and manage monitoring tools to evaluate the effectiveness of infection prevention activities.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years in acute care and at least 6 months in acute care infection prevention preferred.
  • Current RN licensure in the State of California.
  • Infection Control Certification preferred and must be obtained within 18 months of hire.
  • Ability to travel between facility and work sites with access to an operating vehicle with at least minimal coverage auto insurance.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook.
