Key Responsibilities
Signal Support Systems Specialists are tasked with the integration of communication systems and networks. Their duties include:
- Executing signal support functions and conducting unit-level maintenance on authorized communication equipment.
- Installing, operating, and maintaining radio and data distribution systems.
Advanced team members take on additional responsibilities such as:
- Supervising and training fellow Soldiers.
- Maintaining and installing signal support systems and terminal devices.
- Providing technical assistance and training for automation and communications equipment.
- Preparing maintenance and supply requests for unit-level signal support.
- Performing preventative maintenance checks and services on assigned vehicles.
Skills Development
As a Signal Support Systems Specialist, you will acquire a variety of skills, including:
- Understanding mechanical and electrical principles.
- Implementing preventive maintenance procedures.
- Mastering line installation and wiring techniques.
- Applying communication security policies and procedures.
Preferred Skills
Candidates with an interest in electronic equipment and problem-solving will find this role particularly rewarding.

Training for Signal Support Systems Specialists includes:
- 10 weeks of Basic Training to develop foundational Soldiering skills.
