Key Responsibilities
• Utilize electronic data processing systems to input coded information into the County's database, ensuring accuracy and completeness of data entry.
• Assess field data related to property appraisals and organize it for various divisions within the Tax Department.
• Input data into the computer system regarding real estate transactions, including ownership changes, address modifications, and zoning alterations; prepare records for newly created parcels; and ensure accuracy by reviewing and amending files as necessary.
• Conduct research and compile data on land sales and transfers; maintain maps reflecting these transactions; and assist in developing price and assessment estimates for new subdivisions.
• Support applicants in the Farm Use Deferment program by guiding them through the application process and maintaining relevant files.
• Prepare the Sales Ratio Report by compiling data from property deeds and submitting it as required by the State Department of Revenue.
• Draft correspondence, reports, and other documents, ensuring correctness in spelling, punctuation, and format.
• Manage filing and retrieval of materials, leveraging knowledge of the tax collection program to research and compile necessary data.
• Assist the public in obtaining information regarding property location, ownership, and assessed values; provide copies of tax maps and property cards as requested.
• Participate in the revaluation process by conducting research and entering data as needed.
• Perform additional related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
• High school diploma with experience in clerical tasks related to tax departments or construction trades, including data entry operations; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Special Requirements
• Valid North Carolina Driver License.
Physical Requirements
This role involves frequent exertion of up to 10 pounds and occasional exertion of up to 25 pounds; regular tasks include sitting, speaking, and using hands for data entry; work may require standing, walking, and lifting; standard vision and vocal communication are necessary; and the work environment may be moderately noisy.
