Job Summary

The CEI Inspector is responsible for ensuring that construction activities meet specifications and industry standards. This role involves monitoring daily activities, performing engineering inspections, and recording daily notes for the engineering staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor construction activities to ensure compliance with specifications and industry standards.
  • Perform engineering inspections, including construction observation and field sampling of asphalt, concrete, and earthwork.
  • Record daily notes for the engineering staff.
  • Assist the Senior Inspector in the performance of their duties.

Requirements
  • High school graduate or equivalent required.
  • EIT with a degree in engineering, engineering technology, and construction management desired.
  • Two years of experience in construction inspection with a minimum of one year of bridge and/or roadway construction experience desired.
  • Must have the following certifications: CTQP Final Estimates Level I, CTQP Concrete Field Inspector Level I, CTQP Asphalt Roadway Level I, CTQP Earthwork Construction Inspection Level I, CTQP Pile Driving Inspection, CTQP Drilled Shaft Inspection, IMSA Traffic Signal Inspector Level I, FDOT Intermediate MOT, Nuclear Radiation Safety, and Florida Stormwater, Erosion, and Sedimentation Control Training and Certification Program for Inspectors and Contractors.

Physical Demands
This position requires minimal lifting of up to 50 pounds sometimes on a frequent basis. The employee must be able to travel and tour work sites under adverse environmental conditions, including loud noise levels, high dust and dirt, and extreme temperature. The employee must be able to visually examine construction materials and finished structures and work in various types of weather and field conditions, including heights, uneven terrain, highway traffic, hazards of highway construction sites, and heavy equipment.

Expected Hours of Work
This position is full-time (40 hours per week). Office hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, allowing one unpaid hour for lunch each day. While overtime is generally not anticipated, occasional projects or deadlines may necessitate additional hours, compensated according to company policy. Flexible schedules may be available with prior approval from the immediate supervisor. Work schedules may vary based on project demands.
