Optician (Part Time) - Eye Care Specialist

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Optician (Part Time) to join our team at The Portland Clinic. As an Optician, you will be responsible for assisting patients in selecting, ordering, and/or repairing frames and lenses, as well as creating and finishing frames and lenses.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Open and close the optical store daily, serving as a key holder.
  • Assess inventory and purchase frames and miscellaneous stock as needed for the lab and dispensary.
  • Greet patients and answer phone calls in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Set up and maintain office and lab equipment.
  • Collect payments and submit charges according to system guidelines.
  • Conduct quality control assessments of prescriptions, lenses, frames, and equipment.
  • Meet with frame sales representatives and recommend frames and lenses for patients.
  • Write and send job orders for frames and lenses to the lab.
  • Perform fittings, adjustments, and repairs of glasses.
  • Cut and mount lenses.
  • Confirm prescriptions and contact patients when glasses are available for pick-up.
  • Conduct inventory checks and maintain displays.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Optician ABO Certification.

Working Conditions:

This is a part-time position, with 16-24 hours per week. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills and be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
