Job Summary

PacifiCorp is seeking a highly skilled Electrical Systems Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our Transmission and Distribution System Operations team, you will provide technical expertise in the specialized fields of substation apparatus, protection and control equipment, or communications equipment.

Main Responsibilities

Provide technical guidance to personnel in a specialized field to investigate and resolve problem situations or complex issues.

Facilitate internal training for substation journeyman, relay technicians, or communications technicians.

Research, analyze, develop, and implement new programs, systems, and/or processes in response to changing internal and external conditions.

Develop and maintain operational and procedural documentation.

Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field; or the equivalent combination of education and experience.

A minimum of five years of directly related experience.

Knowledge of the power system.

Assessment skills including problem diagnosis and identification of proper methods and techniques to resolve and prevent future problems.

Communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to consult and resolve internal and external customer issues which may be critical, sensitive, or urgent in nature.

Ability to work with all levels of an organization including people with different styles and backgrounds; ability to work as a member of a team.

Expert knowledge of current technologies, tools, systems, and vendors.

Proficient with the use of personal computers and automated tools.

Understanding of applicable company policies, practices, and procedures.

Ability to effectively translate technical jargon into layman's terms.

Travel may be required.

Respond after hours to support field crews as required.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience supervising technical personnel.

Project management skills.
