We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Technician to join our team at UNC Health. As a Medical Laboratory Technician, you will play a critical role in supporting the clinical activities of our healthcare system.
Key Responsibilities- Provide exceptional patient care by instructing patients on preparing for tests and answering their questions regarding the tests.
- Maintain equipment and investigate problems with equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Assist in teaching Clinical Laboratory Science students and Pathology residents, as well as training new employees.
- Monitor daily operations of the laboratory section or work area and participate in special projects/assignments.
- Perform a variety of routine and standardized tests using standard techniques and equipment, preparing specimens, resolving specimen problems, and performing analytical tests.
- Record results of tests and maintain records, providing test results and reporting deviations from the norm to supervisors or ordering physicians.
- Associate degree in Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Laboratory Technician, Chemical Science, or Biological Science.
- ASCP or AMT Board of Certification eligibility and certification within a year for those with an Associate degree in Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Laboratory Technician.
- Medical Laboratory Technician (ASCP) or MLT (AMT) Board of Certification (BOC) required for those with an Associate degree in Chemical or Biological Science.
This is a per diem position with a standard hours per week of 12.00. The salary range is $30.02 per hour (hiring range), with pay offers determined by experience and internal equity. The work assignment type is onsite, with a variable work schedule. The location of the job is in the United States, North Carolina, Lenoir.
