Position Overview:
The Orthopedic Sports Trainer is a skilled position that encompasses clinical and/or surgical responsibilities in collaboration with orthopedic physicians and surgeons, guided by the Sports Medicine or Orthopedic Clinic Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

Surgical Assistance:
- Support the surgeon with patient positioning, preparation, and draping.
- Ensure a sterile operating environment, assist with suturing, tissue retraction, and exposure of the surgical area, as well as manage the arthroscopic camera and skin closure under physician supervision.

Patient Care:
- Conduct thorough medical histories for each patient, including injury details, primary complaints, pain assessments, and past medical history.
- Perform comprehensive physical examinations, including range of motion, strength, sensation, and functional testing.

Therapeutic Procedures:
- Prepare and assist the physician with injection procedures.
- Provide post-operative care, including wound management and education, as well as suture removal and dressing changes.
- Develop and implement patient management plans, ensuring continuity of care from office visits to surgical interventions and therapy needs.
- Conduct cast and durable medical equipment (DME) application and removal.

Patient Education:
- Act as a liaison between patients and physicians during care.
- Provide tailored educational support to patients, including exercise instructions and addressing questions regarding treatment plans and rehabilitation.

Additional Responsibilities:
- Assist with physician-led research initiatives and mentor Athletic Training Residency program participants through teaching and supervision.

Minimum Qualifications:
- A Master's Degree in Athletic Training or a related healthcare field, along with completion of an accredited Athletic Training Residency Program, or a Master's Degree with an OTC and two years of relevant experience.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification in accordance with American Heart Association standards is required.
