Bridge Carpenter

The H&K Group, Inc. is seeking a skilled Bridge Carpenter to join our Structures Division. As a Bridge Carpenter, you will be responsible for constructing, erecting, installing, and repairing structures and fixtures of wood, plywood, and wallboard, conforming to local building codes.

• Perform all work according to OSHA and H&K Safety policies
• Study blueprints, sketches, or building plans for information pertaining to type of material required
• Select specified type of lumber or other materials
• Prepare layout and mark cutting and assembly lines on materials
• Shape materials to prescribed measurements and assemble cut and shaped materials
• Verify trueness of structure with plumb bob and carpenter's level
• Erect framework for structures and lay subflooring
• Build stairs and lay out and install partitions and cabinet work
• Cover subfloor with building paper and lay hardwood, parquet, ad wood-strip-block floors
• Apply shock-absorbing, sound-deadening and decorative paneling to ceilings and walls
• Fits and installs prefabricated window frames, doors, doorframes, weather stripping, interior and exterior trim, add finish hardware
• Construct forms and chutes for pouring concrete
• Erect scaffolding and ladders for assembling structures above ground level

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Problem solving
• Ability to travel as required for projects
• Ability to fit test & utilize appropriate PPE as needed
• Ability to meet physical requirements (movement, lifting, as relevant to job)

• 3 months of relevant experience and/or training
• Experience in heavy civil and highway construction
• OSHA or other relevant safety certifications
