Role Summary

The Catering Culinary Supervisor is tasked with overseeing the daily culinary functions within the catering division. This position involves managing kitchen personnel, ensuring the excellence and uniformity of food preparation, handling inventory, and upholding a clean and organized kitchen space. The supervisor collaborates closely with event planners to guarantee that all catering functions are executed seamlessly and align with client expectations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Management: Lead and mentor a team of culinary staff.
  • Task Delegation: Schedule and assign duties to ensure efficient meal preparation and delivery.
  • Training: Provide training and support to both new and existing team members on culinary practices, safety protocols, and company standards.
  • Performance Evaluation: Conduct regular assessments and offer constructive feedback to enhance team performance.
Menu Development and Implementation
  • Work with the Banquet Chef and Sous Chef to create and plan menus for various catering events, ensuring they cater to client needs and dietary restrictions.
  • Oversee food preparation, cooking, and presentation to maintain high standards of quality and aesthetics.
  • Ensure consistency in portion sizes and presentation across all dishes served.
  • Adjust menus based on seasonal ingredients, client preferences, and budgetary limits.
Inventory and Cost Control
  • Monitor and manage food and supply inventory levels.
  • Coordinate orders with chefs to guarantee timely procurement of quality ingredients.
  • Minimize waste and optimize resource utilization.
  • Maintain accurate inventory and order records.
Quality Assurance and Compliance
  • Ensure all food preparation areas and equipment are kept clean, organized, and sanitary, in compliance with health regulations.
  • Conduct regular kitchen inspections to identify and rectify potential safety issues.
  • Implement and uphold food safety standards, including proper handling and storage of ingredients.
  • Ensure adherence to local health department regulations and company policies.
Event Coordination
  • Collaborate with event coordinators to understand client requirements, timelines, and dietary needs.
  • Oversee food preparation, transportation, and setup at catering locations.
  • Manage food service during events, ensuring timely delivery and client satisfaction.
  • Address and resolve any issues that arise during events to ensure a positive experience.
Client Engagement and Feedback
  • Communicate with the Banquet Chef and Sous Chef regarding food quality and overall event satisfaction.
  • Promptly address any client concerns or complaints.
  • Implement enhancements based on client feedback to improve future catering services.
Qualifications
  • Education: Culinary degree or equivalent experience in the food service sector.
  • Experience: 3-5 years in a culinary role, with 1-2 years in a supervisory capacity; catering experience is advantageous.
  • Skills: Strong culinary expertise, excellent leadership, organizational skills, ability to work under pressure, and knowledge of food safety regulations.
Working Conditions

This role may require evening, weekend, and holiday shifts based on event schedules. Physical demands include lifting heavy items and working in a fast-paced environment.
