Job Summary

Atrium Health is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Armed Security Officer to join our team. As a key member of our security team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and security of our patients, visitors, and staff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Enforce Atrium Health's rules, regulations, policies, and procedures to maintain a safe and secure environment.
  • Provide assistance to patients, visitors, and staff, and respond to emergencies as needed.
  • Operate an Atrium Health Security vehicle to patrol designated areas and enforce parking regulations.
  • Document observations, hazards, and incidents for follow-up corrective action.
  • Intervene effectively in situations involving unruly, abusive, combative, threatening, or armed individuals.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with all individuals, including patients, visitors, and staff.
  • Respond promptly to emergencies and take immediate corrective action to prevent harm or damage.
  • Report incidents and actions taken to upper management and participate in field training and development programs.
  • Maintain all required training and certifications, including NC Private Protective Services Board licensure.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Valid driver's license and at least 21 years of age.
  • 2 years of experience in private security, healthcare security, or law enforcement.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain an Armed Guard license as required by the NC Private Protective Services.
  • Completion of Atrium Health's training programs, including Non-Violent Crisis Intervention/De-escalation, defensive tactics, baton, TASER, and firearms.

Physical Requirements

This role requires the ability to run or exert intense physical effort, close and intermediate visual acuity, and the ability to hear and verbally communicate with others. The position also requires walking/standing for extended periods, both inside and outside, in a fast-paced environment.
