Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Telecommunications Operator to join our team at Houston Methodist. As a Telecommunications Operator, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service and ensuring the efficient operation of our switchboard and paging system.

Key Responsibilities
  • Respond to incoming calls in a timely manner and direct callers to the appropriate destination.
  • Announce emergencies through the overhead paging system and facilitate communication during emergencies and disaster plans.
  • Utilize telecommunications hardware and software, including problem diagnosis techniques.
  • Meet department metrics, including abandonment rates, productivity, and activities per hour.
  • Organize time effectively, minimizing incidental overtime and setting priorities.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent education.
  • One year of customer service experience, with dispatching experience preferred.
  • Healthcare experience preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated skills and competencies necessary to safely perform the assigned job.
  • Sufficient proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing the English language.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with patients, physicians, family members, and co-workers.
  • Knowledge of personal computer functions and Windows-based software.
Work Environment

This position requires a business professional work attire and may require travel within the Houston Metropolitan area.
