Job Summary

The HSE Coordinator is responsible for assisting in the overall supervision and administration of project safety to maintain a safe and healthy work environment for all employees. This role will also coordinate project safety efforts to prevent accidents and injuries while communicating details of project safety conditions to the HSE Manager, HSE Director, and various levels of project supervision.

Responsibilities
  • Participate in developing and conducting field safety orientation training.
  • Conduct daily inspections of machinery, equipment, and working conditions to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and safe work practices.
  • Observe workers to determine appropriate use of prescribed safety equipment, such as glasses, helmets, goggles, respirators, and clothing.
  • Inspect specified areas for fire-prevention equipment, first-aid supplies, and other safety devices.
  • Test working areas for hazard exposures (noise, toxic, etc.) using associated testing equipment.
  • Prepare daily reports of findings with recommendations for corrective action.
  • Investigate accidents per program procedures to establish root cause for use in recommending preventive safety measures.
  • Document all accidents, safety violations, unsafe conditions or behavior.
  • Assist in the development of standardized job safety analysis (JSA), corporate safety and health management program (SHMP), as well as project-specific safety plans (PSSP).
  • Conduct weekly safety meetings with workers to instruct them on Bernhard/project safety practices and requirements.
  • Demonstrate use of equipment and conduct safety training.
Requirements
  • 5 years of construction experience.
  • 1 year of experience as an on-site safety person.
  • OSHA 30hr card for the Construction Industry.
  • Completed First Aid, CPR, and AED training.
  • Specialized training relevant to scope of work.
  • Working knowledge of safety regulations and hazard control methods.
  • Strong attention to detail with good analytical skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented and willing to tackle various ongoing projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Versed in the industry and the Company's competitors.
  • Ability to multitask and perform duties outside of the scope of work when necessary.
Travel and Physical Requirements
  • 5% of time will be spent traveling to job site(s)/office location.
  • Ascending and descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, and/or poles.
  • Climbing stairs.
  • Low indoor temperature.
  • High indoor temperature.
  • Outdoor elements such as precipitation, heat, cold, and/or wind.
  • Noisy environment.
  • Light work that includes adjusting and/or moving objects up to 20 pounds.
