Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Dental Hygienist to provide professional dental hygiene services to adults in custody in a correctional setting. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing chairside dental hygiene procedures, adhering to established time frames, and maintaining proficiency in all aspects of dental hygiene.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Record health histories and take and record blood pressure and vital signs
  • Perform head and neck exams, oral inspections, and measuring of periodontal pockets
  • Provide patient education in oral hygiene and administer fluoride treatments
  • Deliver oral antibiotic prophylaxis as prescribed by a dentist and apply topical anesthetic agents
  • Administer local anesthetic agents, polish and smooth restorations, and perform oral prophylaxis
  • Remove deposits and stains from the surfaces of teeth, perform deep cleanings, and soft tissue curettage
  • Place and remove perio dressings, sterilize equipment, and disinfect operatories
  • Fabricate and deliver fluoride trays, pack and medicate extraction areas, and place approved medications under the gingiva
  • Remove sutures, document encounters and treatment plans in the patient's medical record, and maintain accurate records
Requirements:
  • Possession of a dental license as a dental hygienist issued by the Oregon Board of Dentistry at the time of appointment and maintained throughout employment
  • Current Oregon licensure for the Professional Practice of Dental Hygiene, with expanded practice permit preferred but not mandatory
  • Radiologic Proficiency Endorsement and Local Anesthesia
  • Must satisfy all Oregon Board of Dentistry continuing education requirements
  • Oregon Driver's License and current CPR – Advanced LBAS for health care workers

About the Process:

After the application deadline, a recruiter will review submissions for education and experience to identify candidates who best fit the minimum qualifications and requested skills. Top candidates will be referred to the hiring manager, and the hiring manager will review your application and schedule interviews.

Interviews will be held with a panel of stakeholders who have completed panel assessment training. Scores will be determined based on predetermined questions and scoring guides. Preferences points will be applied in compliance with relevant laws and bargaining agreements.

Final candidates will have a background check, and reference checks. A Classification and Compensation analyst will review the Workday Application of the successful candidate to determine starting wages.
