Job Summary

We are seeking a part-time Registered Dental Hygienist to join our team at Arrow Dental. This role is responsible for promoting dental health by completing dental prophylaxis, providing oral cancer screening and radiographic studies, and charting conditions of decay and disease.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in dental hygiene, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment. Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare treatment rooms for patients by adhering to prescribed procedures and protocols
  • Prepare patients for dental hygiene treatment by welcoming, soothing, and seating them
  • Provide information to patients and employees by answering questions and requests
  • Maintain instrumentation for dental hygiene treatment
  • Select materials and equipment for dental hygiene visits by evaluating patient oral health
  • Complete dental prophylaxis and periodontal scaling and root planning as appropriate
  • Complete periodontal charting and take radiographs
  • Apply fluoride and other cavity-preventing agents as necessary
  • Maintain patient appearance and ability to masticate by cleaning and polishing removable appliances
  • Help dentists manage dental and medical emergencies
  • Educate patients by giving oral hygiene and plaque control instructions and postoperative instructions
  • Document dental hygiene services by recording vital signs and medical and dental histories, charting in patient records
  • Maintain patient confidence and protect operations by keeping information confidential
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment, complying with procedures, rules, and regulations
  • Adhere to infection-control policies and protocols
  • Ensure operation of dental equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements, following manufacturer's instructions, and maintaining equipment inventories
  • Maintain hygiene supplies inventory, place orders for supplies, and verify receipt of supplies
  • Conserves resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and reviewing professional publications

Requirements:

  • A Registered Dental Hygienist and active Oregon License
  • American Dental Hygienist Association (ADHA) membership preferred
  • Follows ADHA Professional Code of Ethics
  • Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, dental software experience helpful
  • BLS for Healthcare Providers
  • Participate effectively as a team player
  • Nitrous certification a plus
  • Excellent reading, oral, and written communication skills
  • Ability to interact professionally, patiently, and courteously
  • Good problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure in a complex and rapidly changing environment
  • Ability to come to work on time and on a daily basis
  • Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, dental software experience helpful
