Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Solaris Engineer to lead and guide all design and upgrade efforts encompassing the Solaris server environments across a large-scale enterprise Information Technology (IT) program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, evaluate, and modify end-to-end systems and systems-oriented products through their entire life cycle.
  • Generate quantifiable requirements based on customer description, system planning and design, and acquisition logistics.
  • Ensure requirements comply with client requirements and government standards through formal verification methods.
  • Translate high-level product development strategies into system requirement specifications and work with other engineering disciplines to develop lower-level detailed implementation requirements.
  • Establish and coordinate development of standards, practices, and procedures as related to the overall product development.
  • Assess performance using evaluation criteria and technical performance measures.
  • Participate in system conceptual design and documentation of the design concepts.
  • Design, build, and integrate Operating System (OS) baselines with security-hardened configuration for Solaris servers.
  • Packaging and integrating 3rd party software with security-hardened configuration.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree or higher with 12+ years of experience; additional 4+ years in lieu of degree.
  • Minimum of 10+ years of Unix operating system experience.
  • Minimum of 8+ years Linux operating system experience including system internals, file system structures, design, and performance tuning at an enterprise level.
  • Proven experience insuring compliance with all regulations, optimizing system performance, and supporting future planning.
  • General knowledge of ITIL and the use of MS Project.
  • Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) credentials as an Oracle Solaris System Administrator.
  • Current ITIL Foundations certification.
  • Must possess an active TS/SCI.
