Emory University is seeking a highly skilled Linux Systems Administrator to join our team. As a key member of our HPC infrastructure team, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining a high-performance computing (HPC) cluster platform and service.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with HPC administrators and technical teams to engineer and manage a cutting-edge HPC infrastructure.
  • Ensure the availability, integrity, and reliability of assigned systems.
  • Develop and update procedures and guidelines for installing, patching, configuring, customizing, troubleshooting, upgrading, integrating, and maintaining Linux operating systems and related software.
  • Research, analyze, and resolve problems, providing root-cause analysis for Linux operating systems.
  • Proactively seek information and utilize analytical and creative problem-solving skills to ensure secure use of systems, applications, and infrastructure.
Requirements:
  • Seven years of Linux systems administration experience or a bachelor's degree and five years of Linux systems administration experience, preferably in the context of managing HPC environments.
  • Experience with configuration management tools (Ansible, Puppet) and LDAP administration.
  • Ability to lift 1U servers (approx. 50 lbs) for installation and servicing.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Three or more years of HPC systems experience, including extensive command-line systems administration/use.
  • Experience with HPC resource management tools (Slurm).
  • Linux file system management and networking stack.
  • Experience writing and debugging Python and Bash scripts for system administration.
