Job Summary:
Responsible for dispensing eyewear and other optical products to both adults and children, collaborating with prescriptions issued by optometrists and ophthalmologists.
This role involves advising and assisting patients with various types of lenses and eyewear frames, considering factors such as style, weight, and color. The advertised pay range for this position does not encompass additional compensation from our spiff program.

Key Responsibilities:
Verify order data entry, ensuring accuracy by comparing prescriptions to the original documents provided by the doctor.
Complete proper order filing procedures, including organizing orders under the correct ABC system.
Drive sales by providing outstanding member service both in-person and over the phone.
Must be able to clearly explain all procedures related to the exam fee, maintaining open and honest communication while ensuring a friendly demeanor with customers.
Take precise measurements, ensure correct frame selection for prescription power, read prescriptions on the lensometer, and provide timely notifications regarding product readiness.
Strive to meet sales and metric goals by educating patients on the benefits of available products and recommending those that will enhance their visual needs.
Engage with members during downtime in the Optical area.
Adhere to all privacy and confidentiality policies as required by law, including HIPAA.
Assist members with eyeglass adjustments and repairs.
Support the Optical Manager with opening and closing procedures, ensuring accurate funds are collected and payments processed at the point of service.
Maintain compliance with all club policies and procedures.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Regular, predictable attendance is an essential function of this role.
Qualifications:
Must hold a valid license to practice as an optician within the state and keep the license current and active.
Knowledge of optical products and business practices is preferred. A high school diploma, college degree, or experience in wholesale, retail, or optical settings is advantageous.
Strong interpersonal skills, organizational abilities, and attention to detail are required. Open availability for shifts is necessary for full-time positions. Candidates must be at least 18 years of age.
Environmental Job Conditions:
Most of the time is spent moving about frequently on hard surfaces. There may be a need to occasionally position oneself to examine or scan merchandise, including bending, handling, pulling, reaching, and/or stooping.
Frequently requires lifting objects up to 20 pounds and may involve lifting and moving heavier or awkward objects with assistance.
Work is performed in a comfortable indoor environment with occasional exposure to temperature extremes and loud noises. There may be occasional exposure to cleaning agents.
Requires the use of optical hand tools to adjust and repair members' eyeglasses, including the insertion and removal of nose pads and small screws.
In accordance with Pay Transparency requirements, the following represents a good faith estimate of the compensation range for this position. At BJ's Wholesale Club, we carefully consider a wide range of non-discriminatory factors when determining salary. Actual salaries will vary based on factors including but not limited to location, education, experience, and qualifications. The pay range for this position starts at $35.00.
