Job Opportunity

Arize Federal Credit Union is seeking a highly motivated and experienced professional to fill the role of Controller in our Accounting Department.

About the Role:

The successful candidate will be responsible for directing the daily activities of our Accounting Department, ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial transactions, and preparing financial reports for management. This is a full-time, in-person position in State College, PA, with an optional hybrid schedule (up to 20%).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct the daily operations of the accounting department, ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial transactions.
  • Prepare financial reports for management, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
  • Administer the escheat process for unclaimed funds and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Assist in the formulation and execution of CU policies, objectives, and programs.
  • Work with auditors and examiners on annual and comprehensive audits.
  • Ensure accuracy of general ledger accounts and subsidiary journals.
  • Assist with preparation and evaluation of annual budgets and forecasts.
  • Prepare regulatory and other external reports.
  • Direct, motivate, and evaluate employee performance within the department.
  • Monitor department activities to ensure compliance with established policies, procedures, regulations, and generally accepted accounting principles.

Requirements:

  • 3-7 years of similar or related experience.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Trustworthy and works with high integrity.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for motivating and influencing others, first-level conflict resolution, building relationships, and soliciting cooperation.
  • Advanced knowledge of personal computers using Microsoft software and other accounting-related programs with an emphasis on spreadsheets.
