Role Overview

The primary responsibility of this position is to prepare and serve wholesome and visually appealing meals, adhering to dietary orders and special events, in compliance with current federal, state, and local standards, as well as Solaris HealthCare's established policies and procedures.

    • Analyze menus and production guides to determine the types and quantities of food to be prepared.
    • Prepare all meal items in accordance with planned menus and standardized recipes, ensuring sanitary practices to maximize quality and minimize waste.
    • Utilize nutritionally appropriate substitutes when necessary.
    • Skillfully operate various kitchen equipment, including blenders, mixers, fryers, slicers, steamers, food processors, convection ovens, stoves, conventional ovens, steam tables, and tilt skillets.
    • Wash, peel, cut, and shred vegetables and fruits for meal preparation.
    • Taste and assess food for quality and palatability.
    • Slice portions of meat for individual servings.
    • Adhere to recipes meticulously.
    • Add gravies, sauces, and garnishes as needed.
    • Assist in preparing special function meals.
    • Complete assigned work tasks efficiently.

Qualifications

A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred. Ability to read and write is required.

Experience

One to two years of experience as a cook in a large-scale culinary operation is preferred.
