We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced HVAC Maintenance Technician to join our team at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay. Key Responsibilities- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on HVAC systems, including investigating and resolving issues with temperature control, air quality, and system performance.
- Inspect, clean, and lubricate equipment and components to ensure optimal operation and prevent downtime.
- Respond to service requests and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines and ensure minimal disruption to campus operations.
- Collaborate with vendors and suppliers to obtain necessary parts and materials to maintain campus HVAC equipment.
- Monitor and maintain proper operation of heating and cooling distribution systems, including ductwork, steam traps, and heat exchangers.
- Identify and troubleshoot system problems, equipment malfunctions, and repair needs, and escalate issues to senior staff as necessary.
- Operate and maintain energy management control systems, including scheduling and programming building functions.
- Develop and implement operational work plans for staff and ensure compliance with safety protocols and procedures.
- High school diploma and 4 years of extensive mechanical experience in the operation and repair of HVAC equipment or associate's degree in HVAC or a related field.
- Working knowledge of computerized HVAC systems and mechanical systems.
- Experience with troubleshooting, monitoring, and resolving malfunctioning or unsafe conditions in mechanical equipment.
- Completed safety training and experience in recognizing occupational hazards and working with proven safety techniques in the maintenance and use of building mechanical systems.
- Possession of or eligibility to obtain a valid Wisconsin driver's license upon appointment.
- 5 years of experience in the HVAC field.
- Physical strength and stamina to perform required work, including bending, kneeling, crawling over ductwork or equipment, climbing ladders, lifting loads up to 30 lbs., and working on feet for long periods.
This position requires occasional evening and weekend work, as well as work in various temperatures and conditions, including rain, wind, snow, and extreme temperatures. The incumbent must be able to work independently and as part of a collaborative team, and must be able to communicate effectively with staff and vendors.
