Job SummaryThe Building Maintenance Technician will perform a variety of tasks, including seasonal shutdown, repair and maintenance on air exchange units and boilers, water traps, filters and all pipelines. You will also be responsible for cleaning, repairing and maintaining buildings and grounds, including floors, walls, ceilings, bathrooms and locker rooms. Additionally, you will perform yard and building surveillance for security purposes and operate vehicles and equipment in the shop and yard in case of fire or other emergencies.
Responsibilities- Perform seasonal shutdown, repair and maintenance on air exchange units and boilers, water traps, filters and all pipelines.
- Clean, repair and maintain buildings and grounds, including floors, walls, ceilings, bathrooms and locker rooms.
- Perform yard and building surveillance for security purposes.
- Operate vehicles and equipment in the shop and yard in case of fire or other emergencies.
- Maintain, understand and monitor fire and sewer alarm systems.
- Maintain inventory of custodial supplies and coordinate re-ordering of supplies with the Superintendent.
- Understand and practice basic traffic control techniques.
- Handle emergency phone and radio calls and take proper action to rectify complaints or problems.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Boiler and HVAC maintenance coursework is desirable but not required.
- Must have a valid driver's license and good driving record. A valid commercial driver's license or ability to obtain one is desirable.
- Previous custodial/cleaning experience is preferred.
The Building Maintenance Technician will work in a fast-paced environment with varying temperatures and humidity levels. The position requires frequent standing, walking, sitting, bending and stooping. The ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 100 pounds occasionally is also required.
