Job Summary

HFC seeks a part-time Mathematics Tutor to provide individual and small group tutorial support to students. This position interacts primarily with students, faculty, and staff. The Tutor may provide tutoring in-person or online and is expected to be a content-matter expert, helping students improve their learning strategies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide individual and small group tutorial support to students in mathematics courses.
  • Interact with students, faculty, and staff to ensure effective communication and support.
  • Deliver tutoring in-person or online, depending on the needs of the students and the College.
  • Develop and maintain a strong understanding of mathematics concepts and curriculum.
  • Help students improve their learning strategies and achieve academic success.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in mathematics or a closely related field (e.g., math education, statistics, physics).
  • Advanced or terminal degree in mathematics or a closely related field (e.g., MA/MS in mathematics or math education, statistics, physics).
  • Experience in tutoring or teaching mathematics, preferably in a higher education setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, faculty, and staff.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong commitment to student success.

Working Conditions

This is a part-time position, with a maximum of 24 hours per week. The Tutor will work on a semester-by-semester basis, with the possibility of renewal. Compensation is based on degree level.
