Project Manager I-Civil Job Description

Mortenson is seeking an experienced Project Manager in our Civil Group to lead complex projects and interact with various staff at all levels. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of managing project quality, timeliness, safety, and compliance, as well as mentoring project teams and developing customer relationships.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage the overall financial health of projects, including budgeting, forecasting, and cost management.
  • Lead EPC contract negotiations with customers, including assembling technical exhibits, scope of work, and project schedules.
  • Develop and maintain project financial projections and equipment projections.
  • Manage subcontracts and suppliers for the project, including overseeing budget and making selections of trade partners and suppliers.
  • Manage Assistant Project Manager(s) and Project Engineer(s), including providing job assignments, managing career development, and approving timecards.
  • Function as the main point of contact with the owner and on-site representative, including resolving site concerns and providing frequent interactions and service to build positive relationships.
  • Manage change orders, including determining when to submit to the owner or on-site representatives and obtaining customer/architect's approval.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum six years of related previous experience.
  • Proven ability to assist with all responsibilities for complex projects.
  • Detail orientation sufficient to organize and manage multiple project tasks.
  • Possess basic understanding of construction law and generally accepted business practices.
  • Microsoft Office, project, and pertinent web application skills at an intermediate level.
  • Proven positive and professional attitude, and strong customer service skills.
  • Ability to interpret and communicate Mortenson policies.
  • Current driver's license.
Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction, Civil, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or Construction Management, or equivalent experience.
