We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Spiritual Care Specialist to provide spiritual support and guidance to patients and families in a hospice setting. Job Summary

The Spiritual Care Specialist will conduct assessments for hospice patients and their caregivers to identify their spiritual needs. They will ensure that appropriate spiritual services are provided in a timely manner by either providing such services to the patient/family or coordinating the provision of services with community clergy or spiritual counselors.

This role involves providing direct spiritual services to patients/families according to their belief system and practice. The ideal candidate will participate in the development of the interdisciplinary group (IDG) plan of care to meet identified spiritual needs. They will also act as the hospice spiritual services community liaison by developing community contacts and offering hospice education to various clergy, counselors, and congregations.

About the Role
  • Conduct assessments for hospice patients and their caregivers to identify their spiritual needs
  • Ensure timely provision of spiritual services to patients/families
  • Provide direct spiritual services to patients/families according to their belief system and practice
  • Participate in IDG plan of care development to meet identified spiritual needs
  • Act as the hospice spiritual services community liaison
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you should have a graduate degree from an accredited seminary or school of theology (BD, MDiv, or equivalent theological degree). You must have completed 3 Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) Units and have experience working with death and dying, terminal individuals, and their families or caregivers. Hospice experience is preferred.

A strong interpersonal skillset, good communication skills, empathy, compassion, and resourcefulness are essential for this role.
