Position Overview

Novogradac & Company LLP is actively seeking a Manager to contribute to our expanding firm. The Manager will oversee a range of tax, audit, and various assignments as directed by the Principal or Partner. This role requires minimal supervision, with a strong emphasis on mentoring and guiding Staff and Senior Accountants, independent problem-solving, enhancing client relationships, and boosting office profitability. Some positions may offer remote or hybrid work options based on business requirements. Please consult with your recruiter regarding available arrangements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Take primary responsibility for client engagements, including planning, staffing, scheduling, technical matters, and other critical decisions. Ensure the successful completion of engagements while identifying and addressing challenges with minimal oversight.
  • Conduct comprehensive engagement reviews.
  • Supervise and mentor Supervisors, Senior Accountants, and Staff, providing guidance in technical areas, identifying professional development opportunities, and fostering a respectful team environment.
  • Complete annual performance evaluations for assigned staff and manage performance discussions.
  • Assist Principals and Partners in identifying, meeting with, and pursuing new client opportunities.
  • Identify ways to leverage acquired technical knowledge into high-value opportunities for clients.
  • Enhance the Firm's reputation by participating in conference panels, contributing to publications, attending recruiting events, and conducting training sessions.
  • Understand the importance of enhancing the Novogradac brand by cultivating collegial relationships with all Partners, employees, clients, and prospects.
  • Develop and strengthen client relationships through professionalism, responsiveness, and a service-oriented approach.
  • Enhance expertise in the Firm's focus areas by pursuing relevant training courses.
  • Contribute to office profitability by managing your time and that of Staff and Senior Accountants effectively, while providing valuable ideas.
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned.

  • Accept constructive feedback from the Partner group and adjust accordingly.
  • Work collaboratively to foster a productive, team-oriented environment.
  • Exhibit strong computer skills, particularly in the Microsoft Office suite (especially Excel) and report writing tools.
  • Maintain a professional demeanor with colleagues and clients.
  • Gain the confidence of the existing Partner group.
  • Meet internal deadlines (time entry, billing, etc.).
  • Be available to work evenings and weekends as needed and travel domestically if required.
Educational Background

A Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance (an advanced degree is advantageous) and 5-8 years of experience in public accounting or a suitable combination of education and experience. A CPA license is mandatory.

Experience in any of the following areas is beneficial but not required: Affordable Housing, Low Income Housing Tax Credits (LIHTC), Opportunity Zones (OZ), Renewable Energy Tax Credits (RETC), Historical Tax Credits (HTC), Housing and Urban Development (HUD), New Markets Tax Credits (NMTC), Real Estate, Developers, Partnerships, Housing Authority (HA), Public Housing Authority, Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFI), Community Development Entity Certification Applications (CDE), Property Compliance, Nonprofit, Single Audit, Uniform Guidance, A-133, Forecasting, Cost Segregation, Year 15 Exit, Tax-exempt bond, and HOME programs.
