About the Job
We are seeking an experienced Lead Legal Counsel for our Institutional Services Americas business, responsible for advising on custody, fund administration, transfer agency, trust, and related agreements. As part of the team, you will collaborate with internal stakeholders to address corporate-wide initiatives, handle multiple projects simultaneously, and provide sound legal and business judgment in dealing with clients and colleagues.
Key Responsibilities
- Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating complex agreements, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
- Providing legal advice and guidance to business partners, addressing areas such as insurance companies, ERISA vehicles, state and municipal retirement plans, registered mutual funds, private funds, trust companies, and separately managed accounts.
- Collaborating with internal legal, business, compliance, and risk colleagues to drive corporate-wide initiatives forward.
- Handling multiple projects concurrently, managing time effectively, and balancing competing interests to achieve successful outcomes.
- Exercising sound legal and business judgment in client and colleague interactions.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Juris Doctorate from an accredited US law school.
- License to practice law in Massachusetts or another US state.
- 1-3+ years of experience in a law firm or equivalent experience in the financial services sector.
- Strong negotiation skills, excellent communication skills (written and verbal), and excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
