The Healthcare Support Specialist plays a vital role in assisting with the examination and treatment of patients under the supervision of a healthcare provider. This position involves engaging with patients, monitoring vital signs such as pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height, and documenting essential information in patient records.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide assistance to patients by delivering information and services.
- Greet patients warmly, whether in person or over the phone.
- Confirm patient details by interviewing them, recording their medical history, and clarifying the purpose of their visit.
- Prepare patients for their healthcare appointments by guiding them to the examination room.
- Conduct preliminary health assessments: measure blood pressure, weight, and temperature; summarize patient history, perform phlebotomy, and execute other assigned tasks.
- Ensure the confidentiality of patient information by maintaining and securing medical records; accurately complete diagnostic and procedure coding.
- Uphold a safe and healthy work environment by adhering to established standards and legal regulations.
- Document patient examinations, treatments, and test results thoroughly.
- Manage medical supply inventory and conduct preventive maintenance on equipment.
- Facilitate communication with insurance providers, other clinics, and patients.
- Perform additional duties as required.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Medical Assistant.
- At least 1 year of experience in measuring vital signs.
- Familiarity with EMR systems for at least 1 year.
- High school diploma is required.
- Bilingual in Spanish is preferred.
- Reliable transportation is necessary.
