About the Job

This position supports the Swenson College of Science and Engineering (SCSE) as a Grants/Research Finance Professional. This position is an integral member of the SCSE Finance Team, performing post-award financial management for an assigned portfolio of faculty. This individual will work closely with the other members of the SCSE finance team as well as with faculty and their personnel to manage and facilitate grant activities. They will offer guidance and expertise on budgeting, compliance, electronic data and file management and reporting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Management - Sponsored Projects: 90%
    • Post-award management of extramural and internal awards
    • Coordinate with pre-award staff to establish proposal budgets and ensure transition from pre- to post-award
    • Coordinate with SPA/SFR for reporting, communications, amendments, and close-out
    • Prepare monthly, annual, and ad hoc reports for proactive award management
    • Facilitate regularly scheduled meetings with PIs to advise on financial status of projects; identify budget issues, communicate with project staff, and facilitate changes and corrections
    • Coordinate effort certification; maintain payroll distributions
    • Audit financial activity for compliance
    • Maintain sponsored chart of accounts; process cost transfers
  • Financial Management - Non-Sponsored: 5%
    • Financial management of discretionary funds for assigned portfolio of faculty
  • Customer Service and Department-wide Development: 5%
    • Contribute as a team member in the delivery of services and administration of the SCSE FSO by participating in planning, evaluating, and executing department activities and initiatives.
    • Attend training sessions to maintain competence and ability to perform functions of the position.
    • Attend Grant Management User Network (GMUN) meetings and Sponsored Project Symposium.
    • Participate in college-wide and department staff/team meetings, professional development, training, and events.
    • Other duties as assigned.
