About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Meat/Seafood Butcher to join our team at Big Y. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for preparing high-quality meat and seafood products while providing exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Product Preparation: Receive, process, cut, trim, scrape, package, tie, wrap, weigh, price, and label meat products to meet customer demands.
  2. Customer Service: Exceed customer expectations by providing World Class service and a pleasant shopping experience in both the meat and seafood areas.
  3. Inventory Management: Maintain inventory levels, identify cuts of meat and seafood, and collaborate with management to ensure operational and sales goals are met.
  4. Equipment Maintenance: Operate, clean, and maintain equipment/machinery, tools, and workstations to ensure efficiency and safety.
  5. Team Collaboration: Work together with fellow Big Y employees to deliver an exceptional customer experience and support the company's Mission & Vision.
  6. Training and Development: Provide training as needed through product knowledge and expertise, and engage in continuous improvement through ideas and innovation.
Requirements
  1. Experience: Previous perishable foods handling and/or preparation experience preferred.
  2. Skills: Ability to represent Big Y's A Culture of Caring and The Pursuit of Excellence through the support of Big Y's Mission & Vision, and demonstrate a passion for food through interactive sales techniques.
  3. Personal Qualities: Must project a clean and professional appearance, be a team player with a positive attitude, and possess excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  4. Education: Must be 18 years of age and have completed meat/seafood butcher and culinary training program or passed a meat skills test.
