The successful candidate will serve as a technical liaison among customers, sales, technical services, and the mill quality and operations teams, facilitating new business opportunities and managing existing production orders to ensure product quality aligns with AM/NS Calvert's business objectives.

Key Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Materials or Metallurgical Engineering or a related discipline
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in research, operations, quality assurance, product development, or manufacturing
  • Proven experience applying Lean Six Sigma methodologies to enhance product performance and reliability
  • Expertise in failure investigation and root cause analysis within metallurgy or steel manufacturing
  • Familiarity with flat-rolled steel products
  • Understanding of quality systems and processes
  • Strong statistical analysis skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Teams, Word, PowerPoint)
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree
  • Experience with SAP and MES systems

YOUR ROLE IN OUR SUCCESS:
  • Lead the development of Advanced High Strength Steel (AHSS) and API pipe & tube steel grades
  • Drive product and process optimization for continuous improvement of steel grades
  • Oversee customer qualifications, product approvals, and capability trials
  • Conduct mechanical property failure investigations and root cause analyses
  • Evaluate customer and industry material specifications to ensure mill capabilities meet required standards
  • Act as a technical liaison for new business opportunities and existing production orders
  • Review hot rolled business orders and configure materials/parts in SAP
  • Develop and maintain quality management systems for compliance, conducting periodic internal audits

  • Standard workdays are Monday to Friday, with extended hours as needed during peak workloads
