Job Summary:

The Assistant Athletic Director of Sports Medicine will oversee all aspects of the health care of student-athletes at Westcliff University. This includes leading the Sports Medicine team in coordinating all aspects of the health care of student-athletes, managing athletic training room functions, and maintaining relationships with athletics staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the Sports Medicine team in coordinating all aspects of the health care of student-athletes, including evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation of injuries incurred by student-athletes.
  • Manage all athletic training room functions, including inventory, medical record keeping, and administrative meetings.
  • Maintain relationships and work in cooperation with athletics staff, including staff, coaches, strength and conditioning coaches, and administrators.
  • Assist the Athletic Administration in the organizational and administrative duties of the athletic training room, including pre-participation physicals and screenings for student-athletes.
  • Develop, implement, and enforce athletic training policies and procedures.
  • Maintain knowledge of current standards of practice and actively seek to grow knowledge by attending online and in-person continuing education programs.

Requirements:

  • 3-5 years of experience in athletic training.
  • Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree preferred.
  • Must be BOC certified, current CPR/AED certification, and NATA membership preferred.
  • Ability to think critically and make independent decisions regarding the assessment, treatment, rehabilitation, and return to play decisions per state licensure guidelines.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in high-stress/pressure situations when talking to patients, medical professionals, staff, and families.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and perform multiple tasks with little or no supervision.

Working Conditions:

  • Work is medium demand, with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must have reliable transportation and a valid driver's license to travel to and from practices and home competitions.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Manage Athletic Trainers, both full and part-time.
  • Supervise roles include scheduling and managing training room operations, coverage of practices and games as needed, and overseeing and delegating daily tasks.
