The Workforce Development Manager is responsible for overseeing state and federally funded employment initiatives, as well as executing employment-related activities aimed at assisting eligible clients in securing jobs and achieving self-sufficiency.
This role focuses on enhancing the skills and qualifications of job seekers while addressing the workforce needs of businesses seeking dedicated and skilled employees. The Workforce Development Manager reports directly to the Field Office Director.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure that team members are productive, fulfilling all contractual obligations, and fostering a positive team atmosphere.
- Possess a thorough understanding of state and federal program contracts, ensuring compliance and maximizing opportunities.
- Provide continuous leadership, guidance, development, coaching, and support to program staff.
- Direct and coordinate the implementation of various programs within the designated portfolio.
- Accountable for meeting all program reporting deadlines, ensuring that reports and vouchers are accurate and complete according to contractual guidelines.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with businesses, community organizations, and partner agencies; ensure consistent communication with partners to coordinate services and develop client and funding opportunities.
- Collaborate with targeted businesses and industries to create potential job placements and employment opportunities for clients, negotiate training agreements, monitor success post-placement, and maintain a database of current and prospective business partners.
- Evaluate clients' experiences, skills, and limitations; identify suitable job opportunities; assist clients with job applications, interview setups, and transportation arrangements.
- Engage in recruiting potential employer partners through site visits, outreach efforts, and participation in job fairs.
- Maintain relationships with employer partners and involve educational institutions to support language training in workplaces, skills development, and curriculum design while addressing employer challenges.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- Master's degree from an accredited institution, preferably in Human Services, Social Work, or a related field.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, including effective communication and the ability to build relationships with clients, employment partners, and program staff.
- Proficient in MS Word, MS Excel, and relevant database programs.
- Able to work collaboratively in a dynamic, fast-paced team environment.
- Demonstrated commitment to the mission of the organization and interest in contributing to the long-term success of a nonprofit.
- Must possess a valid driver's license, insurance, and a reliable vehicle.
- Exhibit respect for others, maintain confidentiality, and appreciate a multicultural workplace.
TRAINING REQUIREMENT
- Successful completion of organizational orientation and training.
- Complete additional training as identified by supervisors or Human Resources.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Ability to use manual dexterity, tactile, visual, and auditory skills.
- Engage in repetitive motions, prolonged periods of sitting and standing, and sustained visual and mental efforts.
- Occasional lifting (up to 25 pounds), bending, pulling, and carrying.
- Basic quantitative skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, standard measurements).
