Job Summary

Rumpke of Ohio, Inc. is seeking a skilled Industrial Service Technician Apprentice to join our team. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for delivering equipment and assisting in installations, including learning various fabrications, welding techniques, and hydraulics.

Key Responsibilities
  • Load, secure, and deliver compactors, balers, and augers using roll off trucks, roll back trucks, and trailers.
  • Assist in sanding, grinding, cutting, welding, and other fabrication or repair work on company containers, compactors, and other equipment in a safe manner.
  • Grind metal parts after welding.
  • Weld steel using Mig and Arc welding equipment.
  • Fabricate steel components on compactors.
  • Maintain a clean, safe work area in compliance with Company and OSHA standards.
  • Complete required paperwork utilizing computer system.
  • Utilize standard shop hand tools, measuring devices, and equipment.
  • Install lids and wheels on containers.
  • Paint repaired and/or new compactors.
  • Professional interaction with internal and external customers.
  • May assist in other projects or areas of the shop as needed.
  • Maintain a positive work atmosphere by performing and communicating in a manner that promotes good relationships with customers, clients, co-workers, and management.
Requirements
  • Basic knowledge of welding and cutting.
  • Basic small shop tools and electrical knowledge.
  • Moderate welding and mechanical aptitude.
  • Knowledge of MIG/ARC and stick welding.
  • Cutting torch skills; ability to use plasma cutter.
  • Ability to operate a forklift safely.
  • Familiarity with using a computer.
  • Familiarity with roll off truck operations, Trailers operations, and load securement.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills to be able to communicate effectively and professionally with internal and external customers.
Working Conditions
  • Must have at least a valid Class B CDL.
  • Must have a valid DOT Medical Card or able to obtain prior to hire.
  • Must be at least 19 years of age.
  • No more than 3 moving violations within the last 2 years.
  • Must not have any DUI's or OVI's within the last 5 years or 2 in the last 10 years.
  • Possible exposure to high traffic conditions and/or tight driving areas.
  • Exposure to residential and commercial waste.
  • Ability to travel between offices, as required.
  • Ability to work flexible hours; overtime, weekends, and/or holidays.
  • Ability to work overtime, weekends, and/or holidays.
  • Legally eligible to work in the United States.
  • Valid driver's license (if applicable).
  • Must successfully complete pre-employment testing.
  • Must be able to read and speak the English language.
