Advanced Practice Provider

Rush University Medical Center is seeking an Advanced Practice Provider to join our Emergency Medicine team. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide high-quality, comprehensive acute and/or routine medical/surgical care to our patients.
Responsibilities- Manage ED Clinical Decision Unit patients
- Conduct comprehensive or episodic health assessments and develop patient care plans
- Order and interpret tests, treatments, and therapies within the scope of practice
- Prescribe medication, including controlled substances as delegated in collaborative practice agreement
- Review and initiate requisite consults
- Provide clear, concise, and accurate information in the electronic medical record
- Demonstrate advanced critical thinking in the care and management of patients
- Initiate and perform consultations in accordance with Rush rules and regulations
- Make appropriate referrals to other healthcare professionals and/or agencies
- Current State of Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) and Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) licensure required
- Minimum of six months of clinical practice as an RN required
- Master's or Doctorate degree in Nursing required
- Nurse Practitioner Certification from a National certifying body required
- APRN candidates must be acute care certified - Nurse Practitioner Certification from a National certifying body as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP) or Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AG-ACNP)
- Demonstrates competency in all areas of APRN or PA practice including: medical knowledge, interpersonal and communication skills, patient care, professionalism, practice-based learning and improvement, and systems-based practice
- Skill in preparing and maintaining electronic and paper medical records
- Knowledge of current and emerging trends in technologies, techniques, issues, and approaches in area of expertise
- Strong work ethic, interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively with collaborating physician, department, and other members of the healthcare team in an effective and comprehensive manner
