Job Summary

Under the supervision of a Unit Director, Charge Nurse, or Team Leader, the Mental Health Technician will perform activity duties in the treatment and care of patients in accordance with hospital policies and procedures.

Responsibilities
  • Provide direct care to patients in Adult Psychiatry, Child Adolescent Psychiatry, and Behavioral Decision Unit settings.
  • Assist with patient activities, such as meals, recreation, and education.
  • Document patient information and maintain accurate records.
  • Collaborate with healthcare teams to ensure patient needs are met.
  • Participate in training and education programs to enhance skills and knowledge.
Requirements
  • Associate's degree or equivalent work experience/education in the Mental Health field.
  • Previous experience as a Mental Health Technician or Mental Health Worker preferred.
  • Ability to read, write, and comprehend medical terminology.
  • Pre-employment screening and physical requirements.
  • Documentation of no record of Child Abuse, Neglect, and/or Maltreatment through the New York State Central Register.
  • Previous patient care experience preferred.
  • Successful completion of Preventing and Managing Crisis Situations (PMCS) training within the first 3 months of employment.
Working Conditions

The Mental Health Technician will work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, interacting with patients, families, and healthcare teams. The ability to work effectively in a team setting and maintain confidentiality is essential.
