Hermeus is a pioneering aerospace and defense technology company dedicated to revolutionizing air travel by developing hypersonic aircraft. Our innovative approach involves integrating cutting-edge hardware, iterative development, modern computing, and autonomy to create game-changing solutions.

The company's commitment to accelerating air travel has led to the design, build, and test of its first combined turbojet-ramjet engine, with plans to scale this technology through its Quarterhorse flight vehicle program. Additionally, Hermeus is developing Darkhorse, an uncrewed hypersonic aircraft designed to deliver unique asymmetric capabilities to warfighters.

We seek a highly skilled Hypersonic Financial Strategist to join our Hermeus Finance team. As a key member of our organization, you will collaborate across various departments to drive strategic decision-making and contribute to the company's long-term vision. Your primary responsibilities will include building and maintaining a robust financial model, managing the company's long-term financial strategy, and performing market research and business case modeling.

This role will be instrumental in establishing core finance processes and evolving how Hermeus forecasts its business to drive long-term value for internal and external stakeholders. Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing and maintaining effective relationships with business partners across various functions within the organization
  • Supporting month-end finance processes, assisting in the preparation of financial reports, including monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
  • Maintaining budgets for development costs and approving spending based on targets aligned with key stakeholders and leadership team
  • Performing variance analysis and providing insights to drive performance improvements
  • Conducting ad hoc financial analysis and modeling to support business initiatives
  • Assisting in the development of the annual budget and ongoing forecasting processes
  • Monitoring key performance indicators and providing insights to drive performance improvements
  • Ensuring that long-term forecasting processes are aligned with short-term business processes

Requirements for this role include:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field
  • 3+ years of experience in financial analysis, financial planning, and modeling, with a background in the manufacturing/hardware industry being a plus
  • Experience in a startup or high-growth environment is preferred
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience with financial modeling software
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Experience with Adaptive Planning or similar forecasting tools
