Position Overview

908 Devices Inc. is at the forefront of transforming chemical and biochemical analysis through its cutting-edge handheld and desktop devices, catering to essential applications in life sciences, pharmaceuticals, forensics, and related sectors.

Role Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated Field Service Engineer to enhance our innovative Life Science and Bioprocessing platforms, including REBEL, ZipChip, MAVERICK, and MAVEN. The ideal candidate will deliver both on-site and remote customer support, encompassing product installation, training, and technical assistance. Collaborating with the Customer Service and Quality Engineering (CSQE) team, you will ensure exceptional support for our customers throughout their experience with our products. Regular interaction with commercial field teams and internal departments will be essential to relay customer feedback and identify opportunities for future product enhancements.

This position requires fieldwork primarily in the Mid-Atlantic region, with an estimated travel commitment of 60%.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct product installations, training sessions, and service visits at client locations.
  • Provide post-sales support, including troubleshooting and maintenance through various communication channels.
  • Collaborate with service and technical teams to create comprehensive training and technical documentation.
  • Engage with Field Applications and Sales teams to establish and meet service and support objectives for each client.
  • Work closely with Product Development teams to communicate customer insights and contribute to product evolution.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Strong technical communication and interpersonal skills, coupled with a professional demeanor.
  • Proficient in laboratory sample handling techniques, including pipetting.
  • Experience in installing, maintaining, or operating complex analytical instruments such as mass spectrometers or similar systems.
  • Familiarity with biologically oriented systems is a plus.
  • Competent in using electronic tools and software for SaaS products, including MS Office.
  • Ability to work autonomously with minimal oversight.
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology, or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of 2 years in a service-oriented position is preferred.

Additional Information:

  • Preferred candidates will be located in proximity to major biotech hubs.
  • This role involves significant travel commitments.
  • Physical ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 lbs.
