Body Technician Job Description

At OTR Garage, LLC, we're committed to delivering exceptional vehicle repair services. As a Body Technician, you'll play a crucial role in restoring damaged vehicles to their pre-collision condition.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Examine damaged vehicles, plan repair processes, and work with the repair planner to ensure efficient and quality repairs.
  • Communicate with colleagues and stakeholders to ensure timely completion of repairs.
  • Perform quality repairs while maintaining on-time status, making decisions on repair vs. replace based on safety, cost, and cycle time.
  • Remove and reinstall vehicle components, including upholstery, accessories, and electrical equipment.
  • Participate in safety meetings and adhere to safety protocols.
  • Direct the work of apprentices and explain procedures to ensure knowledge transfer.
  • Operate specialty tools and equipment, including mig and pulse welders, self-piercing riveting guns, and aluminum and steel dent fix stations.
Requirements:
  • Ability to use frame machines and measuring systems.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting OEM repair procedures and service information.
  • I-CAR welding certification is preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret measuring data.
  • Supervisory experience and ability to lead repair personnel.
  • Pass a thorough background check.
  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods, with occasional lifting of 50 pounds.
