Job Summary

The University of Kansas Health System is seeking a PRN Speech Language Pathologist to join our team. As a PRN Speech Language Pathologist, you will be responsible for evaluating patients with acquired or congenital impairments in cognition, communication, or swallowing functions. You will develop and implement treatment programs to restore the highest possible level of functional independence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluation and Treatment Planning
    • Conduct comprehensive evaluations to determine the nature and extent of impairment in speech, language, voice, fluency, cognition, and dysphagia.
    • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans to address patient needs.
  • Treatment Implementation and Progress Monitoring
    • Administer Speech-Language Pathology treatment to patients, including speech, language, and swallowing therapy.
    • Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as needed.
  • Collaboration and Communication
    • Collaborate with interdisciplinary care teams, including physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
    • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and caregivers to ensure understanding of treatment plans and progress.
  • Documentation and Reporting
    • Maintain accurate and detailed records of patient evaluations, treatment plans, and progress.
    • Prepare and submit reports as required by departmental policies and procedures.
  • Supervision and Education
    • Supervise the work of Rehabilitation Aides and Student Speech-Language Pathologists.
    • Provide education and training to patients, families, and healthcare professionals as needed.
Requirements
  • Education
    • Bachelor's degree in Speech Pathology or related field.
  • Licensure and Certification
    • Licensed Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) - State Department for Aging and Disability Services (Health Occupations Credentialing) upon hire.
    • CPR/AED/BLS certification within 14 days of hire.
