Position Title: Prevention Specialist

Role Summary: The Prevention Specialist will engage directly with children and adolescents aged 6-17, implementing the Curriculum-Based Support Group (CBSG) Program. This role involves delivering educational presentations on substance use prevention, providing resources to enhance mental and behavioral health, and facilitating activities that nurture positive relationships within the community.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Facilitate the Curriculum-Based Support Group Program for small groups of students at designated locations.
  2. Conduct presentations on alcohol, tobacco, and other drug prevention for various age groups.
  3. Identify potential issues, consult with relevant stakeholders, and provide necessary referrals.
  4. Assist in organizing community health fairs, assemblies, and other outreach events.
  5. Lead engaging activities that promote mental and behavioral well-being.
  6. Maintain collaborative relationships with schools, shelters, and community organizations.
  7. Document all service activities and assist in program evaluation through participant assessments.
  8. Collect and manage participant data in an electronic database.
  9. Ensure confidentiality of participant information and adhere to privacy policies.
  10. Participate in team meetings and contribute to organizational initiatives.

Qualifications:

  4. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.
  5. Knowledge of trauma-informed care and community-based services is beneficial.
